For Prelims preparation, focus on memorizing specific facts: establishment dates (ASEAN+3 in 1997, EAS in 2005, US-Russia joining EAS in 2011), membership compositions of different Plus configurations, and key initiatives like CMIM and AMRO.

Create a clear mental map of which countries belong to which mechanism - this is frequently tested. Pay special attention to India's timeline: 2002 first ASEAN+3 participation, 2005 EAS founding member, 2019 RCEP withdrawal.

Memorize the principle of ASEAN Centrality and its implications. Practice elimination techniques by understanding the logic behind each mechanism's membership and objectives. Common traps include confusing membership of different Plus mechanisms, mixing up establishment dates, and misunderstanding the relationship between RCEP and ASEAN+6.

Focus on current affairs connections, particularly recent summit outcomes and new cooperation initiatives. Use mnemonics for remembering membership: 'CJK' for ASEAN+3 (China, Japan, Korea), 'CJKIAN' for ASEAN+6 (adding India, Australia, New Zealand), 'CJKIANUR' for EAS (adding US, Russia).
