Regulatory Mechanisms — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
Focus on memorizing specific details about major regulators: establishment years, key acts, appellate mechanisms, and recent reforms. Create a comprehensive chart mapping each regulator to its sector, powers, and appeal body.
Pay special attention to quasi-judicial powers and their limitations, as these are frequently tested through scenario-based questions. Practice identifying regulatory vs administrative bodies through their characteristics rather than just names.
Stay updated on recent regulatory developments, particularly new authorities and significant enforcement actions. Use elimination techniques by understanding the scope of each regulator's mandate - many wrong options can be eliminated by knowing what each authority cannot do.
Focus on constitutional provisions underlying regulatory powers, especially Articles 14, 19, and 21. Memorize key amendments to regulatory acts and their impact on institutional effectiveness.
