The National Commission for Women (NCW) is India's apex statutory body established in 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, to protect and promote women's rights across the country. Think of NCW as the national guardian for women's interests - it's like having a dedicated watchdog that monitors how women are treated in society, investigates complaints of discrimination or violence, and recommends policies to improve women's status.
