Prelims Strategy

To excel in NEET questions on 'Organ and Organ System', a multi-pronged strategy is essential. Firstly, thoroughly understand the hierarchical organization: cell → tissue → organ → organ system → organism.

Be able to define each level and provide examples. Secondly, for each major organ system (digestive, respiratory, circulatory, excretory, nervous, reproductive), learn its primary function, the key organs involved, and their individual roles.

Thirdly, and critically for NEET, focus on the comparative anatomy and physiology of Earthworm, Cockroach, and Frog. Create detailed tables or flowcharts comparing their respective organ systems. Pay attention to unique features, e.

g., tracheal respiration in cockroach, cutaneous respiration in earthworm, three-chambered heart in frog, Malpighian tubules in cockroach, nephridia in earthworm. For numerical problems (less common here but possible in related topics), ensure unit consistency.

For conceptual questions, read each option carefully, identifying keywords and eliminating distractors based on your comparative knowledge. Trap options often involve mixing features of different animals or misrepresenting the function of an organ.

Practice drawing and labeling diagrams of key organs and systems to reinforce visual memory.
